Het schoon houden van de loop van de luchtgeweer/luchtpistool is van groot belang. Niet alleen voor de nauwkeurigheid, maar ook voor de levensduur van de loop. Tijdens het afschieten van de kogeltje drukt de achterkant (Rok) van de kogeltje met veel druk tegen de binnenkant van de loop. Het kan niet anders dat loodresten overblijven in de loop. Deze loodresten hebben een nadelig effect op nauwkeurigheid. Het verschieten van een VFG propje na het schieten verwijderd de loodresten en houdt de loop schoon. TIP ! Doe achter de VFG een kogel in de loop en schiet beide door de loop. De punt op de kogel drukt de vilt stevig tegen de binnenkant van de loop. Allhoewel de meeste lopen van redelijk kwaliteit staalsoorten gemaakt worden heeft vocht nog altijd een nadelig effect op de loop. Schiet na het schoonmaken een met Teflonolie of Ballistol olie gedrenkt VFG propje door de loop. Dit zal de inwerking van water tegengaan en de loop optimaal beschermen.
